• Week Three Summary

This weeks assignments were really fun to do! The extension really helped me because I was sick, so I was able to work on Week Three’s assignments on Saturday and Sunday. I enjoyed reading the story, “A Study in Emerald” and then reviewing it and seeing the different writing techniques. I decided to create a character that could save animals because I thought it would be a good character to develop and I really liked the idea. For the Haiku (1 star), I read through “Puss in Boots” this was my favorite assignment to write. It allowed me to learn and read through the original tale. I then got to…

  • “Once Upon a Time” Review

I decided to watch the pilot episode of “Once Upon a Time” on Netflix. The show uses a lot of fairytales and myths, so I thought it would be a perfect example. I have watched several episodes before and decided to rewatch the first episode. The show uses a lot of pretty scenery and uses a lot of lighting to indicate when bad things are happening or when the evil characters are on the screen.   This episode used a ton of the topics we discussed. I picked the ones that I thought were the best examples. The use of lighting was one of the most prominent features used. The…

  • Kate to the Rescue

It was a normal morning until Kate got an alert on her phone saying a cat was in need. The cat was stuck on an extremely high shelf and needed to be rescued. Kate rushes to the cat who is calling for help. The cat is too high for cat to reach, so she runs for a ladder. She brings the ladder and gets the cat safely down. The cat is extremely appreciative and gets to go back to sleeping in his bed.   This assignment took a lot of thought. I had to plan how I was going to use my character and decided that the best way was…

  • The Mary Poppins Bag

Kate was scratched by an animal and woke up with the power to talk to animals. She decides to use this power for good and save animals all around the world.   For this, I knew I needed a lot of items animals would need. First, I made a list and thought about what a animal hero would need to carry. I gathered and took pictures of my cats toys and food to use as examples of what ‘Kate’ would have in her bag. I chose to use my backpack because it is super comfortable and it can hold a ton of stuff. I found the animal first aid kit…

  • Experience in the World of Photography

I have always really liked photography. I do not really have much experience especially with all of the different aspects and angles that can be used. I normally just take a picture on my phone quickly and don’t think about it too much. I don’t take a whole lot of pictures, but when I do it is usually of animals, nature (sunsets, pretty views), and random stuff that I think is cool. I also take pictures on trips. The only time I work to capture a particular emotion is when it is something funny or with animals. I do not consider myself an expert at capturing emotions, but it is…

  • Ready, Set, Take the Picture

My list of items to photograph.   This assignment really felt like a scavenger hunt! I used my apartment and my apartment complex for all of my pictures. For the most part, it was pretty easy to find the items I needed. I did have to think about the finished product picture, and I had a hard time finding a tree that expressed soul. I did find a magnolia tree that had a really cool bud and thought about how pretty it would be when it bloomed. Doing this assignment in under twenty minutes was not too hard, but it made me have to think more quickly and take accurate…

  • The Scratch

Hello, my name is Kate and this is my story. It was a normal day until out of nowhere a cat runs out of the alley. The cat jumps on my shoulder and scratches me. I continue on throughout the day and the next morning I wake up with a funny feeling. I get ready for school and on my way I hear a funny voice calling out my name. I look everywhere for the sound and then I see a kitten stuck in a gutter. I run to help her and get her out of the gutter. She thanks me, and I ask her how I can understand her.…

  • Memories from Great Britain

My favorite trip I have ever taken was to England. The trip was a present for my high school graduation. I went with several of my family members. We started the trip by going to the countryside and visited Bath and a few other towns. We then went to London and got to see all of the sights. While we were there, they were practicing for The Trooping of the Color which is a military parade to celebrate the Queen’s official birthday. I used the app, Fotor, to create the collage. I know the assign I added the pictures and played around with the picture placement. Then, I added a…

  • A Collage for My Cat

This collage and assignment (3.5 stars) are dedicated to my cat P.J. I downloaded the app called “Fotor” to create the collage. I went through all my pictures and picked a variety of them I thought were funny or cute. I uploaded them to the website and picked a layout for the collage. I added and arranged the pictures and then zoomed them in. I then made the pictures more rounded and changed the size and color of the frame. I think the pictures really express my cat with some of his expressions and his constant sleeping, and I really like the outcome. My favorite picture is the on the top…

  • “A Study In Emerald” Review

I read “A Study In Emerald” by Neil Gaiman for this week. I had never heard of this author or the story before, so I thought I would try it out. He use a newspaper format to tell the story with a news header and puts advertisements throughout the story. I thought this was a really cool aspect of it and made you feel like you were reading out of a paper or comic. This made the story a lot easier to read and was a cool example of digital storytelling. The author does not give full details about the characters and the plot from the beginning, Instead, he gives little…
