• Week 8 Summary

This week went really well after I finished my story. I communicated through slack with my group and we uploaded all of our information to that. Maddie then put it all together. The hardest thing this week was putting my show together and using Audacity. Editing my show was difficult and took a long time. I think the radio show turned out great and it was a fun thing to do!   Radio Show Progress Week 2: Radio Show Progress Week 2 Here is the completed show:   Here are my daily creates: Daily Creates Week 8 Commenting was hard this week, but here are a few comments I made.

  • Radio Show Progress Week 2

This week was kind of odd because we didn’t have a lot of assignments to do. My group was great and communicated through slack. We all added our commercials, bumpers, and stories to the feed. If any of us had any questions we were able to answer them through the slack, so it was super easy. I wrote my story and then recorded it and added in all of the sound effects. Audacity was being a pain, so it took me awhile to finish it. I then uploaded it to soundcloud and added it to slack. Maddie was super awesome and combined everyone’s work to create the show.   Here…

Maybe to imitate insects… #ds106 #tdc2470 pic.twitter.com/gbXr7T3J1Y — eahumw (@EmilyHutchins8) October 17, 2018 For this daily create, the first thing I though of when I saw the picture was an insect. I felt like they had antenna coming out of their heads. I looked for pictures of insects with large antenna and found this one. For my next daily create, I liked the idea of using Scooby Doo because they solved crimes and would find out who did it! They will definitely find out who! • Week 7 Summary

I felt like this week was much smoother than the last two weeks! I really liked forming groups and being able to plan our show. We set up a slack feed and have been communicating on that. We have all been creating our ads and posters, and I think that everyone has done a great job! I created a poster on Adobe Spark for our show and think it ties into the theme very well. For my assignments, I created a radio bumper (4 stars) where I used some mythical background music. For my radio ad (3.5 stars), I created one advertisement for a pet healing amulet. I thought of…

So disgusting…#tdc2465 #ds106 pic.twitter.com/DGXsLccMgX — eahumw (@EmilyHutchins8) October 12, 2018 This week’s daily creates were very creative and interesting to think about! My favorite was the worst job one. I googled several options and found the sewer swimming job and decided that would definitely be the worst. I think the daily creates really help me work on my creativity and are something fun to do. For the others, I thought about it and looked for photos and ideas.…

  • Radio Show Progress

For our radio show, my group decided to tell the stories of our characters. I really like this idea and think it will be really interesting to hear all of our stories come to life on the radio. We started a slack group and have been communicating through that. Maddie came up with the awesome name of Myths, Legends, and Character Conversations. I really think the name represents our show’s theme. We then decided on how we would tell our stories and how long each will be (3-5 minutes apiece). For my star assignments, I created a radio ad discussing an amulet that could magically heal animals. I also created…

  • Tune in to Listen

For my group, I created a poster to advertise our show, Myths, Legends, and Character Conversations. I used Adobe Spark to create the poster. I picked a size for the poster and then found the background picture. The picture came from the Adobe Spark picture library, and I thought it was very mysterious and represented the theme very well. I then added the text and played around with the different fonts, sizing, and color. I love the background picture, and I think it contrasts well with the white font color. Until next time, Emily

  • You are listening…

For my group’s radio project, I created a radio bumperĀ (4 stars). I thought and wrote about what to say in the bumper. I incorporated our group name, Myths, Legends, and Character Conversations, into the bumper and then decided to also add that we would be telling our characters’ stories. I added background music that felt very mythical, and mysterious to the background. The hardest part was getting the amplification of the music and voice right. The music was super loud and overbearing, so I had to decrease the amplification on it and increase it for my voice. I like the beginning sound to the bumper because it builds up and…

  • Come to UMW!

For this assignment (4 stars), I decided to make a cheesy ad for Mary Washington. I saw this and thought it would be fun to do and it also could be used for the radio show if needed. I wrote a script for what to say and also thought of what I have heard other schools use to entice people to go there. I mentioned the food because I personally have a hard time finding food to eat there due to my gluten allergy. I added some background noise of people talking and it has some music in it from http://freesound.org. I thought that it gave a college campus vibe…

  • Pet Healing Amulet

For this assignment (3.5 stars), I wanted to create something for my group’s radio show. I tied it into my character by having the ad be about a pet healing amulet. My character is a pet rescuer, so I thought this would be the perfect product to advertise. I started by writing a script and thinking about all of the commercials you hear on TV and the radio. Many of those ads are over the top and pretty unbelievable, so I added some of those qualities. I then recorded the ad and searched on freesound.org for animal sounds. It was hard to pick the sounds because there were so many…
