• The Ultimate Finale

The scene prior to the rescue:     _________________________________________________________________________________________   Well this is the end! This class has taught me so much about the various forms of digital media and how to use each one. For the final project I gave my character, Kate, one of her hardest missions yet. She had to save a cat from a burning building that was about to collapse. Last week, I planned everything and created the mashup (see last weeks assignment).  I started the assignment by creating the first part of the assignment, the mashup. I used my app, photo mix to create the mashup with my cat and a burning building. For the…

  • Daily Creates for Week 12

For this week, we had to do two daily creates. I really liked the winter daily create because it was super cold that day and let me imagine being somewhere warm or on the beach. The next tweet I did was the celebratory tweet for 2500 tweets which is really cool! As usual, I felt like the daily creates were good practice at getting my mind to think creatively! Congrats! That's a lot of tweets! #tdc2500 #ds106 pic.twitter.com/Ujg6sskEZc — eahumw (@EmilyHutchins8) November 16, 2018 Dreaming of sunshine and warmth on this cold rainy day. #ds106 #tdc2497 pic.twitter.com/KIlOFBMFqG — eahumw (@EmilyHutchins8) November 13, 2018   Until next time, Emily

  • History Remix

For this remix, there were not any instructions, so I looked at the image and decided what to do. The image involved a political cartoon on US history and remix wanted me to incorporate another language into the assignment. I decided to find pictures and make a collage of France’s history. I also wanted to incorporate the US in a way so I found a picture of the Statue of Liberty being built. I added the word “Bonjour” to have another language in the collage and found pictures of some important buildings and events in France’s history. It was kind of difficult with no instructions, but I like the way…

  • Logo Remix

For this remix, I had to create an oxymoron from a previous assignment. My previous assignment was creating a mashup between  the Nike and Under Armour, so I decided to do the opposite of it. It was kind of hard to figure out how to do an oxymoron for it, so I decided to do the opposite way to remix it. I started by finding a different color nike swoosh and then used the same under armour title. I cut out the logos and then combined them using the photoshop mix website. Doing a remix was definitely different and required a little bit more thought of how to make an…

  • Holiday Tutorial

For this assignment, I started to think about my favorite holidays. I decided that my favorite holidays were Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. You can use any photo editing website or app. I used the Photoshop Fix app to create the assignment. I decided to use a Christmas tree, turkey, and Easter eggs. I found pictures on google and then cutout each picture.   It was very easy to cut out the pictures. I then placed them around the tree. I made the Easter eggs look like presents and ornaments on the tree. I then cut the star out of the tree to be able to add the turkey to the…

  • Superhero Mashup

For this assignment (4 stars), I decided to put my character, Kate, into a scene. I found a super hero character online and then used the “Photoshop Mix” website to cut her out. I thought that this character was a good representation of what Kate would like. I then found a picture of a raccoon stuck and scaling the side of the building. This was a previous story I worked on for Kate, so I decided to provide a visual image of it. I then placed ‘Kate’ in the image and positioned and adjusted her size to appear like she was flying to him. There was a woman in the…

  • Logo Mashup

For this assignment (2 stars), I decided to mashup the nike slogan and the under armor logo. These are two big competitors, so I wanted to put them together. I started by finding the Under Armour logo and then cut it out on the “Photoshop Mix” app. I then found the nike “just do it” slogan. I wanted to find it in black to match the logo so it would stand out against the white background. I kept the background white because that is how you often see the nike and under armour logos. I think the two really fit well together and it is odd to see the two…

  • The Grinch in the Hat

For the assignment (3 stars), I decided to mashup two Dr. Seuss books. I started by thinking about what I children’s books would be fun to put together. I then found found a blue background to imitate the Cat in the Hat background. I then found the grinch and his dog and cut them out. I put the pictures together using the “Photoshop Mix” app on my iPad. I then added the hat and bow tie to the grinch. I could not figure out how to get the hat to fit properly on the grinch’s head which was frustrating. I then found a font that was similar to the type…

  • Holiday Mashup

For this assignment (4.5 stars), I decided to pick my favorite holidays and make them one. I chose the background to be fireworks to represent the Fourth of July. I really like getting to see the fireworks, and my family usually gets together with friends which is always a lot of fun. I then put a Christmas tree and Santa Claus for Christmas. I love getting to see my family and have time off for Christmas. I decided to have Santa give a bunny a “peep” as a present for Easter. Easter is another one of my favorite holidays because I feel it is always the start of Spring. Peeps are…

  • Daily Creates for the Week

This week’s daily creates were a lot of fun to think about! My first daily create was for daylight savings time. I decided to find a GIF to represents setting your clock back and really liked this one from The Office. Next, I found this picture of this odd combination of signs and decided it was the perfect choice. Those are two signs that should never be together and was amazed that they were together. My last daily create allowed me to reminisce about memories from a long time ago. Since the holidays are approaching, I thought of the times when I was a kid and how excited I was…
